Meeting Agendas and Minutes

 

Cable Broadcast

Regular City Council meetings are taped and broadcast on Charter Communications (Local Access Channel 55) the next day at 12:00 noon and 4:00 p.m.


 

Meeting Times and Holidays

The regular meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

 

If the scheduled day falls on a Legal Holiday, the meeting shall be held at the same hour on the next succeeding day thereafter which is not a Holiday.

 

Public Meetings

All City Council meetings are open to the public with the exception of closed session subjects (when legal and personnel matters are discussed). Any member of the public may address the City Council on matters within the City Council’s jurisdiction during the public appearance segment of the agenda. Pursuant to Ordinance 544-NS each speaker is limited to three (3) minutes and shall first secure the recognition of the presiding officer.

 

Pursuant to provisions of the Brown Act, no action may be taken on a matter unless it is listed on the agenda, or unless certain emergency or special circumstances exist. The City Council may direct staff to investigate and/or schedule matters for consideration at a future City Council meeting.

 

Members of the public must turn off all pagers, cellular telephones and any other communication devices upon entering the City Council Chambers. Order and decorum shall be preserved at all City Council meetings.

 

Submitting Items for Council Meetings

If you would like to place an item on the City Council agenda, a written request must be submitted to the Office of the City Clerk. The request should include your name, address telephone number, the group you represent, if any, and a statement of the purpose for the request and any pertinent background information. Your item may be referred to the appropriate department prior to placement on an agenda, if necessary. Once your item is placed on the agenda, you will be notified, usually within two weeks.
