The Huntington Park Police Department's Citizen Police Academy will provide citizens of Huntington Park an inside look at local law enforcement through an 11-week period. The program is designed to give citizens an overview of the police department's functions; staff; responsibilities and operational procedures. The purpose of this program is to promote an understanding between the community and law enforcement through education and interaction with members of the Huntington Park Police Department.
During the 11-week curriculum, citizens will be taught by police executives, police officers and civilian employees. The Academy meets once a week on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Huntington Park Police Department. At the conclusion of the course, a graduation ceremony is held. Participants receive a certificate of completion and have their photo taken with members of the police department.
