Redevelopment Program

Purpose

The Redevelopment Program was established to enhance the economic stability of the City through economic development and affordable housing programs. 

Through redevelopment, a project area receives focused attention and financial investment to reverse deteriorating trends, revitalize the business climate, increase the City’s tax base, create jobs, rehabilitate and add to the housing stock and gain active participation and investments by citizens.

Objectives

The main objectives of the Redevelopment Program are:

• Provide affordable housing and homeownership opportunities
• Revive the business district and downtown
• Revitalize rundown neighborhoods
• Market development opportunities to promote and attract retail, industrial, and entertainment ventures
• Improve streets, lighting,  sewers and water lines
• Improve the overall quality of life for residents
