Responsibilities

The Planning & Zoning Division is responsible for:

• Implementing the provisions setforth within the City's General Plan and Zoning Code
• Preparing, amending and applying codes that will achieve long-term goals
• Reviewing and approving sign proposals and business license applications based on zoning and land use requirements
• Reviewing plans for residential, commercial and industrial developments
• Processing Development and Use permits, and other entitlements
• Preparing environmental assessments pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act

The Planning Division also staffs the Planning Commission and Historic Preservation Commission.
