General Municipal Elections
General Municipal Elections are regularly held in the City of Huntington Park on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in March of odd-numbered years. Other municipal elections or special elections may be called by the City Council.
The City's General Municipal Election regularly scheduled for 2009 has been cancelled. There were not more candidates than offices to be elected; therefore, City Council appointed Elba Guerrero and Andy Molina to fill the two (2) positions as Members of the City Council for a four-year term commencing March 16, 2009.
The next election will be held March 8, 2011.
During a Municipal Election the City Clerk serves as the Elections Official and is responsible for overseeing the proper application of State Election Code requirements governing the conduct of elections, commencing with the calling of the election by Council resolution, coordination of the candidate nomination process, and concluding with the official canvass and certification of election results.
The City Clerk is also responsible for maintaining all campaign expenditure statements required to be filed by candidates in municipal elections and conflict of interest filings required by the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC).
