The Parent Project Program
The Huntington Park Police Department Youth Services Division is offering The Parent Project® to residents and non-residents of Huntington Park. The goal is to provide a need specific parenting series for families with a high risk youth. The Parent Project is an intensive program developed for parents. Parents will be taught effective prevention and intervention techniques in order to help their children resist bad temptations exposed by today's society.
The Parent Project Courses:
- Changing Destructive Adolescent Behavior
This course is designed for parents that have adolescent children with destructive and out of
control behavior.
Some of the topics discussed include but are not limited to the following: understanding our
children; adolescent drug use; managing conflict in the home; addressing problematic
behavior; finding help and support; etc...
2. Loving Solutions
This course is designed for parents who have strong-will children between the ages of 5-10.
Some of the topics discussed include but are not limited to the following: setting appropriate
boundaries; how to discipline appropriately; dealing with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD); motivating children to complete their school
assignments; etc...
